Andrea Bocelli and Renzo Rosso together to reconstruct after earthquake

Andrea Bocelli and Renzo Rosso have joined forces, and through their Foundations they are committed to rebuild a school rendered not fit for use by the earthquake that struck Italy last summer.

The project for the realization of the Scuola Media ‘Giacomo Leopardi’ in Sarnano, in the province of Macerata, has already been defined and the construction will start in the next days in concert with the offices of the Extraordinary Commissioner for Reconstruction. The school will be donated ‘turnkey’ to the local administration.

The Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Only The Brave Foundation, united in their desire to carry out concrete projects of solidarity at an international level, have declared it their goal to bring back to normality the lives and futures of the many young people of Sarnano, an Italian medieval village with one of the richest artistic heritages, which was severely affected by the earthquake last year.

The Municipality of Sarnano has strongly held (and obtained) that most of the population would still live in the village, working hard to ensure that people regular activities were not interrupted.

It is a challenge that we are facing enthusiastically, has commented Maestro Bocelli, ‘in the certainty that we will reach our goal through the experience we have gained in the field of ‘didactic structures’. The Andrea Bocelli Foundation, in fact, has already realized five school structures in its first five years of activity.

‘I am very happy to cooperate with Andrea for this project, has added Renzo Rosso.’ For a long time we have wanted to help the areas affected, and together we have gone straight away to the villages struck by the earthquake to understand their real needs. Our philosophy is to follow from the beginning to the very end all the initiatives we support, and for which we guarantee timing and investments, as we did in Venice for the restoration of Rialto Bridge.’

Finally Mayor Franco Ceregioli has said:’ I would like to thank, personally, and on behalf of all Sarnano Maestro Andrea Bocelli and Renzo Rosso, together with their Foundations for this extraordinary gesture of closeness and solidarity that, after a difficult and troubled year, will allow our kids to return to attend their lessons regularly in a new and secure building.
