RICHARD GARET For this performance Garet’s approach will focus on creating processes that interact and activate sonic material such as electromagnetic waves, modified tape, cracked media, sonification of light, and computer processing. This sonic construction will surface in realtime creating a poly-layered sonic field where the final outcome consists of amplifying manifestations between the materials and in articulating colliding-forces being carefully treated, weighed, measured.
Richard Garet interweaves various media including moving image, sound, multimedia performance, and photography. In work ranging from modified environments to site specific installations to audiovisual screening works, Garet constructs intimate spaces and immersive situations that draw attention to the processes of perception and cognition, and which activate sensorial, physical, psychological phenomena that reflect on the nature and experience of time. Garet’s pieces, whether conceptual in origin or stemming from his investigation of complex systems and algorithmic translations, are informed by the background noise established by mass media culture and the collective arena that surrounds him. Garet’s reductive process seeks to invert the normative function of this background noise, drawing it up from subliminal status to an active presence. He finds further inspiration from material interactions that incorporate problems of context, technology, defunctionalization, commodity, and environment.
Richard Garet holds an MFA from Bard College. DAVID GROLLMAN is a percussionist from NYC who performs freely improvised music. He performs in art galleries, tiki bars, and venues of curious ambience made more curious by his mongrel sounds. David bows, scrapes, blows, slaps, rubs, caresses, abuses, and generally tests the limits of his instrument. Anything is game. Anything may be a participant if the musical conversation calls for it. Artist, instrument, audience, and environment become ambiguous terms, conspiring in a theatrical exploration of chance dynamics and serendipitous exchanges.

WvS: The audio work of New York City based sound organizer WvS is comprised of highly abstract and dense sound-layers, noise-oriented organic sonic textures and ambient soundscapes.
WvS studied computer music, classical composition and music theory in Europe with Wolfgang Rihm and Mathias Spahlinger and in the US with John Cage. He attended the ‘Darmstadt Ferienkurse fuer Neue Musik’ and many European Computer Music conferences, lectured at IDEA, was Artist in Residence at Harvestworks/PASS (NYC), exhibited in Spain at the Barcelona Museum of Modern Art, performed in New York City with sound-installations, solo and in collaboration with Dok Gregory, Peter Principle, Jeremy Slater as “Plan23”, as well as with Richard Garet, Kyung-Mi Lee, Lady Firefly and others at Spectrum, Roulette, Sonic Front, Figment Festival, Governors Island Art Fair, Diapason, SHARE, BPM, Grace Exhibition Space, GrayZone Kingston, Goodbye Blue Monday, Flux Factory, Warper Party, the Knitting Factory, MonkeyTown ({R}AKE + FLOW), Generator Sound Gallery amongst other places, and managed Knitting Factory Records for many years.
Having previously composed music for orchestras, chamber ensembles & solo instruments and conceptualized + realized computer controlled interactive performances, WvS currently focuses on performances and sound-installations of entirely computer-generated sound structures without the use of electro-acoustic samples or ‘field recordings’.

SOFY YUDITSKAYA (@horusVacui) is a media artist and educator working with video, interactivity, projections, code, paper, and salvaged material. Her work focuses on techno-occult rituals, street performance, and participatory art. Sofy’s performances enact and reframe hegemonies, she works with materials that exemplify our deep entanglement with petro-culture. She has worked on projects at Eyebeam, 3LD, the Rubin Museum, the Netherlands Institute voor Media Kunst, ARS Electronica, Games for Learning Institute, and has taught workshops at GAFFTA, and MoMA. She is a member of the Fast Food Video collective and the organizer of the NYC Patching Circles.
KATHERINE LIBEROVSKAYA is a video and media artist based in Montreal, Canada, and New York City. Involved in experimental video since the 80s, she has produced many single-channel videos, video installation works and video performances which have been presented at a wide variety of artistic venues and events around the world. Since 2001 her work predominantly focuses on collaborations with composers and sound artists notably in live video+sound performance where her live visuals seek to create improvisatory “music” for the eyes. Frequent collaborators include Phill Niblock, Al Margolis/If,Bwana, Leslie Ross, Zanana, Kristin Norderval, Hitoshi Kojo, David Watson, David First and o.blaat (Keiko Uenishi). Since 2003 she has explored improvised video with numerous artists including: Monique Buzzarte, Anne Wellmer, Tom Hamilton, Margarida Garcia, Manuel Mota, Anthony Coleman, Barry Weisblat, Mazen Kerbaj, murmer, André Gonçalves, Giuseppe Ielasi, Alessandro Bossetti, Andre Eric
Letourneau, Jason Khan, Jim Bell, Doug Van Nort, among many others. Recent projects have involved: Leslie Ross, Shelley Hirsch, Chantal Dumas, Richard Garet, Dorit Chrysler, Emilie Mouchous, Erin Sexton, Corinne Rene and Philippe Lauzier, and Guy De Bievre. Recent solo projects include the audiovisual installations “NoizeBreeze”(2014), “sonimaginations tissulaires” (2014), “Air-Play” (2013), “Amplifontana” (2012) and “Shines” (2008-09). Concurrently she curates and organizes the Screen Compositions evenings at Experimental Intermedia, NYC, since 2005 and, since 2006, the OptoSonic Tea salons at Diapason, NYC, and in various locations in Europe and elsewhere with OptoSonic Tea On the Road. In 2014 she completed a PhD in Art Practice entitled “Improvisatory Live Visuals: Playing Images Like a Musical Instrument” at the Universite du Quebec in Montreal (UQAM).
